What is a Monitrice, you say?
A Monitrice is hybrid care of doula services with midwifery care. Clients prepare and plan for a hospital birth, but receive midwifery care prenatally, before going to the hospital in labor, and in the postpartum. When it's time to go to the hopsital, the midwife takes the role as a doula. This allows for medical tasks to be performed, such as cervical checks, fetal monitoring, and monitoring of vitals of mother before leaving for the hospital and allows for some mothers to feel comfortable at home until they are ready to go.

Apprentices:
Traditional midwifery is taught by the apprenticeship model of working directly with midwives and is important to passing on the wisdom. This is the model that led to the competency of all the practitioners of Mandala Midwifery, and it is our full intension to continue the legacy. If you have any objections to an apprentice observing and/or participating, please let us know, though it may not be optional.
