In the event of prenatal, labor, birth, newborn, or postpartum complications or high risk status, together, we will discuss the need for transfer of care.
In non-emergent situations, we will help facilitate transfer to your physician or a physician on-call at the admitting hospital. We will most likely transfer in your priavate vehicle.
In emergent situations, we may call 911 to assist in the transfer and will go to the hospital in an ambulance. Depending on the situation, we may choose to transfer in your private vehicle.
We remain with you, whether in hospital or at home during the active phase of labor, until birth and several hours postpartum. Depending on the situation, we may join you before the active phase of labor.
We are trained to recognize warning signs of high-risk conditions and circumstances requiring referrals or transfers to other medical specialist. We are trained to manage emergency situations when no other help is available.
